An initiative of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Bangladesh in collaboration with Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS) and BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) of the BRAC University, the Academy of Work is a three-month residential programme for mid-level trade unionists from various sectors.

The AoW was formed to create an all-inclusive representation of workers' interests and a more effective social dialogue. Participants come from various sectors, such as the RMG, transport, construction and the public sector. The courses of the AoW include industrial relations and labour policies, globalisation and trade, global supply chain and workers' rights, health and safety, project management, and leadership skills.

Here is a short video clip giving us a brief overview on the purpose and ideas behind such a programme, as well as the vision and future plans of the architects of the AoW.
